KSOE is expected to increase significantly

According to the British Financial Times, South Korea ’s shipbuilding and ocean (KSOE) expects that methanol power vessels will increase significantly in the next 10 years.

KSOE CEO Ka Sam-Hyun said in an interview with the Financial Times that although the LNG ship will still be the mainstream in the next 20 years, the orders of methanol power ships will increase significantly in the next 10 years.

Analysts pointed out that as shipowners in Asia and Europe replaced old container ships, about 50 methanol power vessels may be put into use by the world by the end of this year.

In 2021, a total of 19 methanol power ships were ordered.Matsky ordered 13 methanol power boats, 12 of which were ordered in modern heavy work, and were expected to be delivered in 2024.

At present, the biggest problem of using methanol power boats is not to build, but how to get such a large amount of green methanol.

France's Dafei Sea Transport Group also set up six 15,000teu methanol power container ships, with a total price of about 1 billion US dollars and plans to be delivered in the second half of 2025.
