Yangtze Evening News (Reporter Liu Xiaopu) The "Asian Brand Conference" hosted by the World Brand Lab was held in Shanghai on September 22. At the meeting, the "Fortune 500 Asian Brand" ranked at the meeting. This is the 17th evaluation of the Asian brand influence on the 17th time of the World Brand Lab. A total of 500 brands from 20 countries and regions were selected. Toyota, State Grid, and Tencent ranked among the top three, and the top ten of the list were Haier, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Honda, Samsung, China Life, Sony and Huawei. Xinhua Daily and Yangzi Evening News under the Xinhua Newspaper Media Group were selected as the top 500 again, ranking 445th and 184th, respectively. It is the only two newspaper brands in Jiangsu.

The criteria for judging the Top 500 Asian Brand are the brand's Asian influence. Stephen Vogg, chairman of the Academic Committee of the World Brand Laboratory and Professor of Oxford University, said the basic indicators for evaluating the influence of Asian brand include market share, brand loyalty, and Asian leadership. There are a total of 20 brands in 20 countries and regions in the Fortune 500 Asian brands. A total of 214 brands selected by China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), accounting for 42.8%of the 500 Fortune 500 Asian brands, ranking first, of which mainland China entered the list. There are 170 brands; 133 brands in Japan are selected, ranking second; South Korea ranked third and was selected as 49 brands.

Professor Vogg believes that Asia has more than 4 billion people, accounting for 60%of the world's population. It is still the most potential economy in the world. Therefore, the establishment of a brand in Asia has won a potential market.

In 2022, the new crown epidemic caused an economic turmoil, and all walks of life were impacted to varying degrees. Compared with last year, the number of selection of financial, information technology, food and beverages and other industries has increased, and the number of retail, real estate, aviation services and other industries has declined. In this year's Fortune 500 rankings, finance is the industry with the largest number of brands, and a total of 65 brands have been selected. The second to fifth industry is information technology (49), food and beverages (48), media (47), and electronic appliances (27).

A total of 24 media brands in Mainland China were selected this year, a decrease of 5 compared with last year. There are three media brands on the list in Jiangsu, of which Jiangsu Broadcasting and Television General Station (Group) ranks 125th. Among the 24 Chinese media brands selected, Yangtze Evening registered ranked 12th. This is also the 17th consecutive selection of Yangtze Evening News.
