There have been no records in fourteen years! Recently, scientists have reported that Dagong, which is considered by the mermaid prototype due to the destruction and poaching of the habitat, has been extinct in China. The study was jointly completed by the scientist of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the London Animal Society, and has been published in the British "Royal Society Open Science" magazine.

Dugong is considered a prototype of the legend of ancient mermaids. It is gentle and looks similar to the sea cow, but there is a whale -like tail. Because it needs to be breathing on a regular basis, it is considered to be the source of inspiration for ancient mermaids and sea demon legends.

According to the "Guardian", Dugong is a kind of marine herbal mammals that depend on seaweed. The tropical and subtropical coasts and island waters that were widely distributed in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean were widely distributed in the South China Sea waters. However, due to industrial pollution, coastal development, overfishing and climate change, seagrass habitats are rapidly degenerating. In addition, fishing and ship impacts are also one of the reasons for the decrease in the Mongolin activities.

In 1988, Dugong was listed as a national -level key protection animal in China.

The last dugvy record of China near the shore appeared in the east suburbs of Wenchang on Hainan Island. After investigation and research, scientists believe that Dugong has functional extinction in China, which means that "it can no longer survive itself."

Duggle

Duggen is one of the four species of the sea cows, and all kinds of sea cows occasionally go to freshwater. They mainly survive by seaweed communities, and they keep eating seagrass in the offshore area of shallow water every day.

The body of Dugong is a round shuttle -shaped, without the dorsal fins or hind limbs, and the forelimb or fin -shaped limb is paddled.

The adult dugong is about 3 meters, and the weight can reach 450 kg. Female is generally larger than male. So far, the largest Dugong was discovered near the coast of Sorastra in western India. It is 4.06 meters and weighs 1016 kg. It is a well -deserved giant beast.

The life expectancy of Dugong is very long and can reach 73 years old, so they are older in sexual maturity. They can reproduce many times in their lives between 8-18 years old, but they can only have 1-2 children each time. Male matches with multiple females to ensure reproduction efficiency, and females will take care of their children until the child is sexually mature.

The whole body of Dugong is treasure. Their meat can be eaten or oil is squeezed; the bones can be used to engrave things; the skin can also be used to tift. So no matter which area lives, Dugong has a fatal thing in common: suffering from human hunting.

Since four thousand years ago, human beings have begun to murder Dugong, and the current number of Dugong has been extremely scarce. At present, in all the distribution places of duggy, they are focusing on protecting animals and are strictly protected. Although poaching still exists, it is no longer the main reason for the decline in the number of populations.

At present, the existence of Dugong is mainly concentrated in Australia.

In fact, the tragedy of animal extinction has been staged. In 1681, the Watanabe disappeared on the earth. Between 1600 and 1800, there were 25 species of birds and animal species on the earth. Between 1800 and 1950, there were 78 birds and animal species on the earth. Icelandic birds, North American travel pigeons, South African donkey, Australian wolf, Zhili macaque, high -nasal antelope, Taiwan cloud leopard, Chinese rhinos, and Antarctic wolf, no Icelanda, South Australian bait donkey, Australian bags, Zhili macaques, high -nasal antelopes, Taiwan cloud leopards, Chinese rhinos, and Antarctic wolves. Animals such as White Capital Dolphin, Sumatra Tiger, Northern White Rhino, Olino Crocodile, and Small -mouth fox monkeys are also endangered.
