Henan Shenqiu catfish data released on the global biological diversity information platform (GBIF)

Recently, the GBIF working group of China Biological Diversity Protection and Green Development Foundation (referred to as "China Green Fair" and "Green Club") received the catfish data from the Chinese Protection Land from the Shenqiu Green Association in Henan. The global biological diversity information network (GBIF) platform is entered and published for reference and download.

It is reported that the Volunteer of the China Protection Land of the Shenqiu Green Association in Henan was discovered several times in the Shenqiu section of the Shenqiu River in Shenqiu County, Henan Province on August 19, 2022 (scientific name: Hemiramphus Far). The upper palate of the catfish is short, and the lower palate is slender as the beak, which is extremely suitable for it to eat algae and plankton. The base of the catfish tip mouth has a little structural lack, and its area is exactly in line with its upper palate. It is an inhabited middle and upper -layer fish that can enter freshwater, staple foods such as green algae, trembling creatures and small crustaceans. Data show that catfish requirements for survival environment are extremely high. It is a small fish that is more sensitive to the environment and can be used as an indicator animal for the waters.

Citizen scientists are an important force for biological diversity protection and an important contributor to biological diversity informatics. China Greenfarters will use the GBIF data platform to help promote the public's efforts to participate in the protection of biodiversity.
