These days, on the banks of Xizi Lake in Hangzhou, the "Epic Epic -the theme Art Exhibition of the Chinese Grand Canal" is being held at the Zhejiang Museum of Fine Arts. One, or several unique "China Grand Canal", "flow" quietly here.

Why is it "several Grand Canal"? Because at this exhibition, the audience can see that the Chinese Grand Canal is different in the eyes of artists, photographers, and even the eyes of artificial intelligence. Since its selection of the World Cultural Heritage, the cultural mining and extension of the Chinese Grand Canal has become more and more deeper. And this exhibition is how many ways to open a Grand Canal to the audience.

This exhibition is curated by the Zhejiang Museum of Fine Arts, with the theme of the core cultural image of the Grand Canal. It aims to comprehensively reflect the construction results of the Grand Canal's "bright cultural belt, green ecological belt, and colorful tourism belt" in the context of the integration of the literary and travelers.

We approached the curatorial team and artist to listen to the story behind the work.

The canal of history, the long flow is long

How far can the river go? 2700 kilometers, more than 10 latitude, more than 2000 years. This is the Grand Canal of China.

The Grand Canal, which has been flowing for thousands of years, is not only a "transportation river", but also the "poetic river" that countless literati and writers have chased the past.

The navigation of the Grand Canal is undoubtedly a cultural link that connects the world and shows the openness of Chinese civilization. Among them, the penetration of the East Zhejiang Canal is of great significance to the development of the "Maritime Silk Road".

The "Canal Boat" created by the Teacher's Innovation and Design Institute of Chinese Academy of Fine Arts is presented by the geographical map of the canal in the eastern Zhejiang. On the screen, the landforms, boat bridges, and shops along the street are lifelike. Liu Yihong, the person in charge of the project and teacher of the School of Innovation and Design of the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts, said that most of the 20 members of the team are students from the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts and Zhejiang University. This large "ancient style long roll" has been completed for many months.

Below this picture, there is also a "Canal Baizhi Jian", which presents 23 ships of different functions on the canal -this is a "particularly fun angle" found after the team sorted out historical data.

The style, structure, nature, and use of the Archaeological Canal Boat of "canal", combined with humanistic historical materials and social contexts to organize, refine and classify it, telling the story of 23 canal ships living in all walks of life.

"After we watched a lot of information such as the history of the canal, the history of ship transportation, we found this angle." Liu Yihong said, "Behind a boat is a historical stage."

History is like a long roll, and it is slowly pulling. During the exhibition, the design of long rolls can be seen everywhere. There are traditional calligraphy and painting long volumes such as Gong Pengcheng's "Canal Fu", Lin Haizhong's "Luo River Taoyuan Picture", Chen Qi's "Generation and Sanda" prints, Shao Wenhuan's "One Place of Rivers", Hu Xiaoyang team "Canal Imaging" and other image long volumes ... The diverse art form, the beautiful natural landscape of the Grand Canal, rich historical resources, and diverse cultural attributes.

The canal of the people, the coefficient of the waterfront

Unlike the magnificent waves of the Qiantang River and the exquisite beauty of the West Lake, the Grand Canal is closely dependent on people's lives, which looks bland and simple. The sound of paddles, we live in the canal, and also live in the poetic meaning of the earth.

In this exhibition, Fang Limin, a professor of the Department of Painting and Art of the School of Painting and Art of the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts, brought 6 works.

"The story of the canal is half in the water and half of the shore." After receiving the creative mission, Fang Limin thought for a long time. He decided to go to Gongyu Bridge to see it.

In Gongyu Bridge, he was suddenly cheerful. "Observe carefully, the boats in the canal, the rivers and the lakes in the Lake are different. Its ship plate is wide and the water eats deep. Most of the area is used for loading. Only a small part is used for life. . "Look at the people on the shore, neighbor neighbors, take a walk together; ticket friends meet, sing opera ... a vivid picture of life. As a result, the long scroll "Canal Chronicle" came into being.

The millennium canal is not exhausted. Today, how does Zhejiang Art Museum hold such an epic exhibition?

Jin Fei, the director of Zhejiang Art Museum, believes that as one of the first national cultural parks, its construction core should be the spirit of man. So he settled from this perspective.

If it wasn't for the videos next to the work, it was difficult to imagine that the mature landscape painting was "blessing" by the algorithm.

"We repeatedly communicated and collided with the artist, and selected hundreds of aerial works in the Hangzhou section of the canal. Based on this, the artificial intelligence algorithm was used to assist, and finally a long -sized landscape was rendered." Sun Lingyun said that the biggest challenge in the creation is to balance the relationship between the artist's ideological and technical team. "Growth of the Canal" is just one of the representatives of the new media works.

According to reports, this exhibition organizes a total of 62 -bit/group outstanding artists for special art creation, and creates more than 80 art works/groups, covering Chinese painting, watermarks, watercolor, oil painting, calligraphy, sculpture, installation, new media, etc. For the form, the three -dimensional shows the epic and cultural style of the Grand Canal.
