The god of the Arabic poet Adonis can be traced back to the late 1990s. At that time, I worked in the Chinese Embassy in Syria and often read a column of the Arabic mainstream paper media "Life Daily". These articles are deeply thoughtful, high in realm, smooth and poetic writing, and suddenly attracted my attention. Because Adonis is a figure in ancient Greek mythology, and is not commonly used by the Arabs, I asked a Syrian writer who the author is. He told me that this was a famous Syrian poet living in France, but his poems were obscure.

Shortly after returning to Beijing Foreign Language University from the embassy, ​​an international student who returned from Syria to visit me and gave me a collection of Adonis's poems "Commemorating the Misty and Clear Things". I turned over when I was working, and I liked the fresh and timeless poetry chapters of the fresh and eternal poetry. I tried to translate some of the magazines sent to "Translation Forest" and was soon published. The editor also took the initiative to contact me, hoping that I would pay more attention to the poet and consider whether to publish a collection of Chinese poems. Shortly after that, when the newly created "Contemporary International Poetry" discussed the topic selection, the poet tree introduced the situation: he once asked the famous French poet Bona Fuwa to recommend several important current French poets. And Adonis, and said that this is an Arabic poet, hoping that his work can be translated into Chinese. As a result, the editor -in -chief of the "Contemporary International Poetry" decided to set up a period of the Ardonister, and asked the Russian translator and poet Wang Jianzhao, who was teaching in Beijing to contact me to translate. I then entrusted my friends abroad to buy most of Arnien's poems, and selected some of them in "Contemporary International Poetry". Later, he was translated for most of the part. In 2009, he published a single book "My Lonely Is a Garden" by the translation of Linlin Publishing House. What made me unexpectedly was that this collection of poems was welcomed by readers after the publication, and it has been reprinted more than 30 times so far, becoming a phenomenon that has not been seen in the poetry of our country for many years. Since then, I have translated and published 6 poetry works of Adonis, which caused a good response.

The translation of poetry has the "shape" of Chinese and the "soul" of Arab culture

Although I am not a poet, I have been enlightened by hazy poems when I was in college in the 1980s. I usually like to read poetry. The main work is related to literary research. Therefore, I think it is not a complete layman in poetry. In the translation of poetry, I try to let the translation poetry "like Chinese poems" and "unlike Chinese poems". "Like Chinese Poems", that is, translation poems can be called poetry in Chinese, and should be a high -quality poem. To this end, the most laborious time when I translate is to make the translation have the sense of rhythm and music in the poetic, because the form of poetry is the soul of poetry. I also try to play the characteristics of Chinese as much as possible, and through the elaborate choices of words and sentences in the translation, to mobilize the memory and association of Chinese readers on mother tongue literature, and increase readers' intimacy and acceptance of Arabic poetry. For example, the image of "folding" many times in the poem "The Motherland", such as: "For the dry face under the sorrowful mask/I fold the waist." In terms of the choice of translation, it is not necessary to replace the "bending down", "bowing", "bowing", and "song body", but I am afraid that only the word "folding" can mobilize Chinese readers about ancient and modern figures to face rivers and mountains. , Beauty and even the memory of power, dumping, and surrender. In other words, the translation of "folding waist" can make readers have richer association, feelings, psychological activities and reading fun.

At the same time, I also pursue the translation poem "unlike Chinese poems", because Arabic poetry not only writes in another language, but also represents another cultural, civilized, world view and values, and reflects the unique experience of foreign poets , Concept, personality, writing context and other factors. Because of these factors, Arabic poetry must be different from Chinese poetry. Therefore, Arabic poetry translated into Chinese should also have some strangeness and uniqueness, which requires the overall style of the original poem, such as the freshness of the image, the impact of sentences, the harmonious or abruptity of the words matching, Sex can provide Chinese poetry and readers with new support and stimuli. For example, in the poem "The Motherland", I retained the impactful expression of the original text (father) "dying like clouds", leaving readers a rich space for Lenovo. However, the overall style of faithful presentation of the original poem does not mean that the original poem is also going on, and sometimes it is necessary to make creative changes during translation. In short, I hope that the translation of poetry is both decent and elegant Chinese coat, but also has a unique Arab soul and temperament.

Write more than forty years of Chinese love

As early as 1980, Adonis visited China for the first time, during which he had a deep discussion with Chinese writers such as Xia Yan. Soon after returning to Berut, he wrote two long articles, recording the feelings and impression of China's trip, and published in major local newspapers. In one of the articles entitled "Hundred Flowers and Hundreds of Films, Hundred Family Convisory", he was impressed by the vigorous vitality of the Chinese ideological and literary circles at the time. At the end of the article, he made such a prediction to China: "In the near future, she may create another world."

In March 2009, in order to attend the Chinese version of "My Loneliness is a Garden", Adonis came to China again. After nearly 30 years, China has been a brand new country. In his words, "Except for the Great Wall, everything has changed." Since then, he has come to China 8 times to attend various activities. Although Aristor's footprints are all over the world, he has a soft spot for China. There are many reasons for this, such as: he sincerely admires the beauty of nature and humanities in China. He and many Chinese friends have a deep friendship. He can obviously feel the respect and love of Chinese readers to him ... Perhaps it was because he was shocked by the great changes in China's witnesses, so he was full of good opinions about this ancient Eastern ancient country. In the minds of Adonis, China is a symbol of the future, which has opened up new knowledge and poetry space for him. China, "not the vertical and horizontal lines, but the eruption of light." In the autumn of 2018, Adonis was invited to participate in the writing plan of an international writer organized by the Lu Xun Academy of Literature. During this period, he went to the south to participate in the event. After returning to Paris, Adonis created the Chinese theme poem "Osmanthus" based on the impression, feelings and thinking of the trip to China, especially the Huangshan trip, and published the following year. In the concentration of this poem, the poet melted the narrative, imagination, and contemplation to a furnace, and the scenery of the scenery in the poem is both the sense of sensory and the crystallization of imagination and ideas. Like Adonis many times in China, I was fortunate to accompany him to all places. Therefore, I am not only the translator of this collection of poems, but also the witness of the poetry text. I have witnessed how he "shake hands with pine trees, drink water from the osmanthus lips", how to "take breathing as a gauze, put on Huangshan's shoulders on Huangshan's shoulders on the shoulders of Huangshan. "".

What moved me deeply and was surprised that when the Chinese version of "Osmanthus" was published, Ardonis insisted on writing "Dedicated to Xue Qingguo" in Chinese. And gift. I know that in this unique way, the romantic old poets not only express encouragement and love to my Chinese translator, but also express love and respect for the Chinese people. Just as he wrote in the end of "Osmanthus": "Can friendship be claimed: Only myself is the treasure of the world?" I was proud of leaving a good story for the history of Chinese and foreign literary exchanges while sincerity.

This year, Ardonis is 92 years old, but the elderly are still mentally spiritual and endless. At the end of last year, he had just published a French version of the autobiography of the poetry body, "The Toniate", who intends to imitate Homer's epic "Iliate". Right now, he is focusing on writing multiple volumes of poetry. Some Chinese friends planned to come to China after planning the poetic activity after planning the epidemic. When I conveyed my friend's invitation on the phone, he said without hesitation: "Accepting invitations, no problem." As if he had forgotten his age, or his age had forgotten him; or, as he was in the poem in the poem I wrote: "Do you want to know the age of the poet? Innovative poets have no age!"

Xue Qingguo, born in 1964, a professor at the Arabic College of Beijing Foreign Studies University, translated with "My Loneliness is a Garden", "osmanthus" and "Catalog of Wind Works" and other works.
