Eating moon cakes is an indispensable dietary custom in the Mid -Autumn Festival. Moon cakes are also known as Yuehua, round cakes, reunion cakes, etc. Moon cakes were originally a supply at the time of sacrificing the moon, and later gradually became the festivals of the Mid -Autumn Festival and gifts to their relatives and friends.

After the Qing Dynasty, the production of moon cakes was more particular about the development of fillings, colors, or varieties. The shapes of the moon cakes are different. In addition to the circular shape, there are crescent -shaped, square, polygons, oval, etc.; The patterns printed on the cake noodles include Chang'e Benyue, Galaxy Yeyue, Galaxy Yingqiu or Fu, Lu, Shou, Hi and so on. Auspicious patterns; fillings include five kernels, egg yolks, borneols, lotus roe, pineapple, ham, jujube mud, bean paste and other varieties, which are sweet.

The elderly Wei Fengxiang, who lives in Liaohe Garden Community, Luohe City, Henan Province, told reporters that when living in rural areas, every household in the lunar calendar is steaming round cakes, and then put a table in the courtyard, put on steamed circle Cakes and round melon -fruits such as watermelon, melon, red dates, duck pear, apple, pomegranate, grapes, etc. When the moon rises, the whole family starts to sacrifice the moon, also called "Yingyue". After the moon sacrifice, the elders in the family will divide the sacrifice to everyone, especially the round cakes that symbolize the circle of the moon into equal portions, each person. If there are those who have not returned outside the family, they must leave a copy of him and take the family's reunion. On the night of the Mid -Autumn Festival, even if the loved ones are thousands of miles away, when a round of bright moonlight, people can still look at the bright moon in the two places and bless each other.

Fu Shengli, a researcher at Luohe City, Henan Province, and director of the Langhe City Folk Artists Association of Luohe City, Henan Province, said that the Mid -Autumn Festival is a moon cake sacrifice, worshiping the moon, and the meaning of pleasing to marriage. In the old days, there was a saying that "men do not worship the moon and women do not sacrifice stoves." The main purpose of the married woman to worship the moon is to pray for the Yueniang mother to send her child, and the unmarried woman pray that the Yue Niangniang is happy and happy for her future marriage.
