Why does Chengdu Tongzi Street famous?

Today, there is a very interesting street on the west side of Taisheng South Road in Chengdu, called Tongzi Street.

Boy usually refers to underage children, but the "boy" of Tongzi Street is not related to children, but is related to the imperial examination.

The ancient boy, also known as Tongsheng, is a kind of reader's identity. Before the thirty -first year of Guangxu (1905), the world's scholars had to pass the imperial examinations to enter the official career, so all scholars were also included in the scope of the imperial examinations, thus having their own identities. For example, during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the scholars were called Tongsheng after passing the test of the county and government. Therefore, the test at the county and prefectures was also called a child test or a boy test. Tong Sheng to the upper level is Xiucai, and then the next level is a person, and the higher level is a jinshi.

Before Tong Sheng took the examiner (also known as the talented talent) without many exams, no matter how old he was, even if he was an old white -haired man, he was still a child. For example, Fan Jin, a classic figure in "The History of Confucius", was a child who had been tested for more than 20 times before the middle. For another example, another person in the book Zhou Jin is an old child who is still in his 60s.

Chengdu Tongzi Street is named after the identity of "Tong Sheng". At that time, the place where Tongsheng took the test of Tongsheng was on Tongzi Street, so this street was named Tongzi Street.

Although the ancient child test was the most basic and simplest test, it was also rigorous and difficult for the program. After passing the child test, it became a talented person. Therefore, most of the scholars only stay on the basic identity of Tong Sheng, even if this is a symbol of status. Therefore, Tongzi Street has added a lot of cultural colors with the symbol of the boy.

As of modern times, on June 13, 1912, the first Women's Daily "Women's Daily" was published on No. 3 Tongzi Street (later relocated to No. 7 in the nearby Qingshu Street). The main writers are famous scholars Wu Yu and Zeng Lan couples. The newspaper is designed for the women's world: "The purpose of advocating the morality of the women's world and growing wisdom."

Zeng Lan has written a lot of articles about women's problems, opposing feudal packaging on marriage, fighting for feminism, and caused a great response in the Sichuan women's world. Wu Yu wrote a publishing word for the journal to talk about women's rights. Zeng Lan also wrote "Women's Education Theory" to discuss the dark and restrained dark situation of women in the feudal society in China, and introduce the history and experience of women's education in Europe, America and Japanese in detail.

"The Women's Daily" has played the role of enlightenment education in the women's liberation movement among the young women in Sichuan, which has greatly inspired the awakening of young women in Chengdu. However, due to funding, the "Women's Daily" will be suspended in only one year.

For the origin of Tongzi Street, fewer and fewer people know now.

Today's Tongzi Street, there are still novel and unique places: there is a special "X" road at the intersection of Taisheng South Road and Tongzi Street. It has a special appearance, and has the function of optimizing the contradiction between people and vehicles and ensuring the safety and smoothness of pedestrians.
