"China grows from nuclear energy novice to a strong country"

The British "International Nuclear Engineering" monthly website published an article on July 25, entitled "Nuclear Dragon: China Grows from Nuclear Newbies to Nuclear Strong Kingdom", and the author is John Coringberg, head of the Public Relations of the World Nuclear Industry Federation. The full text is as follows.

In just 30 years, China has grown from nuclear newbies to nuclear strong country, and there is still a lot of room for development. Where will the "nuclear dragon" go next?

Even for observers who are not concerned about today's nuclear industry, China's core role in nuclear energy expansion is already obvious. Indeed, in the past ten years, as far as the new nuclear reactor is concerned, China has contributed a large part of it based on the power of one country, and this trend is still continuing. But this is not only that.

China is still strengthening domestic capabilities and continues to make breakthroughs in various advanced reactor design and small modular reactor (SMR).

However, this is a relatively new picture, which becomes clear when reviewing the monthly file of the International Nuclear Engineering. In June 1992, China's ambitious plan was reported. Earlier, the country's first nuclear power plant Qinshan Nuclear Power Station successfully connected to power generation. Thirty years later, China has become a key role in the international nuclear family, which is largely due to the strong support provided by continuous government plans to a large extent.

Some plans have indeed achieved results, including many links in nuclear fuel cycles have accumulated extensive professional capabilities.

China will have a dominant position in the field of nuclear energy in the future, which has not attracted much attention from the West at first. In the West, nuclear energy is in a state of stagnation.
