The third is to hope that they have a solid mathematical professional knowledge, go to various positions, and become a person who is valuable to society. So where does mathematicians come from? To a large extent, mathematicians are not cultivated. What we need to do is to provide a good academic atmosphere environment to allow students to grow in such an environment.

How to better cultivate people in society? We need to continuously optimize and cultivate goals and improve the training plan. The study of science should be bypassing the class. It has a deep grasp of professional knowledge, but also can expand according to its own interests, and build its own skyscraper. For example, students who come to Zhejiang University to study mathematics cannot become mathematicians. Therefore, we can cultivate all kinds of talents needed for society through "mathematics+".

Students can rely on the extension of computers, finance, physics, management and other disciplines to consolidate the foundation for all walks of life after graduation. To give a simple example, the methods of processing and solving problems in engineering and science students are different. The first reaction of engineering is often to calculate and solve, and science may seek answers in principle. Therefore, "mathematics+" is to let the two integrate and use more developing thinking to solve problems.

To achieve such a learning effect, it is necessary to have enough space for students to pursue and explore. Among them, moderate "subtraction" in teaching is a prerequisite for teachers to create for students. For example, at the School of Mathematics and Sciences of Zhejiang University, we tried to compress the academic scores and "leave white" for each student, so that they chose the learning content based on curiosity and interest. From the process of doing "subtraction", you can see the vast space of science learning, and you can also feel the degree of intention of different schools to cultivate students.

The future of students nourish in the soil of the university, and the first -class course is "fertilizer". Each student must fully stimulate autonomous curiosity and passion for the discipline selected. As long as they are willing to pursue, their dreams can be realized.

First -class universities will gather first -class scholars, and first -class scholars cultivate first -class students. Science learning especially needs a good academic environment.
