The new plan mainly reforms the organizational form of the examination, the subject combination of the exam, and the enrollment admission method.

The organizational form of the examination is based on the current national unified college entrance examination subjects and the Ministry of Education's unified organizational proposition examinations. The reform is combined to the national unified examination and the provincial organization examination. The three subjects of the new college entrance examination Chinese, mathematics, and foreign languages ​​are still the national unified examinations, and the two subjects of physics, history, ideological, political, geography, chemistry, and biology are reforming into a selective examination for ordinary high school vocational levels. Propositions, examinations, and organization review papers are held during the same period as the unified college entrance examination, and each subject exams separately.

The subject combination of the exam has been reforming from the current two fixed combinations of college entrance examinations and sciences to the new college entrance examination "3+1+2" model, which increases the combination mode to 12. "3" is: 3 unified college entrance examination subjects in Chinese, mathematics, and foreign languages; "1" and "2" are selective test subjects. Candidates' total scores are composed of 3 unified college entrance examination subjects and 3 general high school academic level selective examination subjects, with a score of 750 points.
