A bit melancholy, nonsense Yang Yan image

After the "White Snake: Origin" was released in 2019, we began to prepare for this movie.

At that time, we wanted to shape a new hero image. Search for a circle in the brain. The animated movie I remembered when I was a kid was "Lotus Lantern", so in addition to the familiar characters such as Sun Wukong and Nezha, we immediately thought of Yang Yan.

In the traditional "Agarwood savior" story, Yang Yan is a villain or supporting role. His sister violated the combination of Tianshi and mortals, and was pressed under the mountains of Huashan by Yang Yan. Later, we deeply learned about the legendary stories of various versions, and even found that Yang Yan himself also chopped the mountain to save his mother.

Agarwood is an orphan, Yang Yan was misunderstood, they all eager to affection and companionship

So we are curious, why should he stop his nephew? Will there be other hidden feelings? The details of this area are inspired by us, giving us a lot of imagination and creative space.

With such doubts, the story itself has elements of suspense or exploring cases. In the process of revealing the truth step by step, the story gradually became clear.

The next step is Yang Yan's character. His image is not as clear as Sun Wukong and Nezha, which gives us a lot of creative possibilities.

Yang Yan opened his eyes

Yang Yan's past is brilliant, but now he has become a down -to -face cash with a silver. Now it may be lying flat, careless, a little lazy, leisurely and a little humorous.

He also gave it a unique meaning.

In the first half of the movie, Yang Yan's eyes were wrapped in a headscarf, which also symbolized that he had been covered in the drum. At the end of the movie, Yang Yan finally opened his eyes, which also meant that he finally saw the truth.

Two of the three Xiandao, the style of painting is very different

Although the background is set in a pure and overhead place, we also have to find a real fulcrum and we must not be compiled. We did a lot of case work, and finally set the time in the Wei and Jin dynasties.

Wei Jin is a period of great cultural integration in Chinese history. It can find rich traditional elements, which is in line with our imagination of the immortal world.

The immortal world should be richer than the human world. In our settings, the God Realm consists of three Xiandao, namely Penglai, Fanghu, and Puzhou. There are many magnificent scenes that need to be rendered.

Therefore, the average frame of the whole film should be rendered for 17 hours. Compared with the previous "Rebirth of Nezha", the production cycle is longer and more difficult.

For example, when we were the four heavenly kings, we basically traveled all the temples in China and visited the statues of the four heavenly kings. The decorations on their bodies, armor, and heads on their faces are inspiration from sculpture and ancient paintings.

After all, this is a god of immortality, and there will be various monsters, such as the punishment that everyone is not familiar with. This role comes from the Shan Hai Jing.

There is also the role of Shen Gongbao, who is right and evil. We refer to Liu Ling in the Seven Sages of Bamboo Forest. The seven sages of bamboo forest were born in troubled times, but their own ambitions cannot be realized, just like Shen Gongbao. So he read Liu Ling's poem before his death: "Taking the heavens and the earth as one dynasty, and all the issues of the world."

In the design of the building, we refer to the description in "Tongqueta Fu": "Standing doubles are left and right, there are jade dragons and golden phoenixes. Gorgeous, looking at Yunxia's floating. "We also went to Dunhuang deliberately. The inspiration from Dunhuang Crescent Spring is like an oasis in the desert. There is also a lonely temple next to it. It is shocked from a distance, just like the place where the fairy lives.

We also draw a lot of inspiration from Dunhuang murals. Such as the drama of Feitian. Wushan God Wan Luo sang in the air, and her posture was light and graceful. As described in the Dunhuang murals, there is no need to play, and the instrument can fly to the sky. Perhaps that was the ancient artist imagined that the fairy would meet in the sky.

In order to complete the scene of Feitian, we invited the choreographer teacher of the Dunhuang Dance of Beijing Dance Academy to capture, because the gravity of dancing in the air and the ground is different.

All these inspections and homework have only one purpose, to hope that the audience can see the treasures in traditional Chinese culture in an overhead fairyland.

In fact, we spent a lot of effort in the special effects of this movie. Only a scene of Penglai Wonderland only exceeded the production difficulty of the entire film of "Nezha Rebirth".

In the movie, the technical difficulty of Tai Chin's drama is very difficult. This drama talked about Yang Yan and Agarwood trapped in the Tai Chi map. In order to reflect the difference between Tai Chi and the outside world, the characters must be turned into black, just like a drop of ink dripping into the water.

Previously, in "White Snake: Origin", we have tried the character image of ink texture with three -dimensional technology, but there was only a small paragraph at the time.

The clip of the Taiji map this time is the climax of the whole film. Secondly, ink and wash are more pure. Not just characters, the scene is also the form of traditional ink painting.

In the 3D scene, it reflects the ink material. In computer special effects, this has always been difficult.

Chinese ink painting is a two -dimensional flat plane, and there are many very freehand white blank white. However, making three -dimensional animation requires the construction of the scene, which continues to increase materials and rendering on it.

These two things are essentially contradictory. One is Jane, the other is complex. One virtual, one real. How to create a false feeling with "real" means is a huge challenge.

From the beginning of making movies, we are preparing this play. And in the last one or two months we still want to continue to improve.

Traditional Chinese ink painting is the shadow relationship of the picture with the depth of ink. However, when it is presented with a camera, as long as the angle is changed, the shadow relationship will be changed. The ink paintings just drawn will not be established, and the angle relationship should be re -drawed. Therefore, the workload increases geometrically.

But we have never given up, constantly adjusting and dead, and finally achieved the desired effect.

I read digital media art at the Communication University of China, and later edited real -life movies. Because I do n’t know much about painting, I have also been questioned when I was just a director. Others would say that you can draw the original paintings by yourself, you see that people ’s director of Hayao Miyazaki and Disney will be painted.

At first I also doubted myself, but later found that I would not draw painting does not mean that I could not be a good director. I entered this industry because of love.

I remember watching "Journey to the West" when I was a kid, marveling at the fairy to step on the cloud. In our generation of growth, I have seen many imaginative, high -tech things. But the things in the bones did not disappear. I still remember a plane once. When the plane took off and broke the clouds, I saw a golden clouds outside the hanging window. At that moment, I suddenly felt that being a fairy is just the same.

I have always wanted to use my imagination to create a wealth of fairy world.

Because of the influence of "Nezha in the Sea" in 1979, there was the story of "New God List: Rebirth of Nezha".

The film "White Snake: Origin" was talked with the two directors of Huang Jiakang. I grew up watching "The Legend of the New White Lady", and I haven't broadcast the mainland version of the white snake in Hong Kong, China. He watched the "Green Snake" directed by Xu Ke. The cultural background of our growth is different, so the understanding of the story of the white snake is also different, and a lot of interesting things collided during communication.

Put the story background in modern "New God List: Rebirth of Nezha"

So whether it is a white snake, a big saint or a Nezha, it is the blood resonance of our generation, so I want to present it through animation.

The so -called "New God Bang" series is to use different stories to make up for our worldview and fill the entire Wonderland full.

Everyone said that Guoman has risen, but I think this industry is still in the process of rapid learning and development, and a large number of talents are needed. We still have to tell traditional Chinese stories.

The story of Agarwood saving mother can evolve and spread so many versions, indicating that this story is still valuable.

Because this story is a typical Chinese story. Agarwood split the mountain to save her mother is expressing our thoughts on family. The red rope on Yang Jian's piano and agarwood's wrist condensed their thoughts on their mother.

In the concept of Chinese people, we are very concerned about life and death, so discussing these in the movie is essentially telling Chinese stories.

Some audiences think that domestic animation is now a bit "partial" tendency to put too much energy on the production of animation technology and special effects. It takes 3 to 4 years to produce an animated film.The average production cycle of animation is 5 to 6 years, and the average investment may be 10 times that of domestic animation.Each work has its own "fate", just like Yang Yan, who has experienced a lot, but the final ending cannot be forced.No movie is perfect, it must have regrets, but this work should be the best way at present.

In my opinion, Chinese stories are not superficial.Although we have added many ancient Chinese style elements, such as Chinese architecture and music elements.But the key is the temperament core of the entire film, which should be manifested from the conversation and manner of the characters.
