Snoring is also called "snoring" and "snoring", which is a common phenomenon in life. Some people can fall asleep on the bed at night, and the snoring beats very loudly. Many people around them think that this is a manifestation of sleeping.

But snoring is actually very harmful, and the snoring is serious and even accompanied by breathing suspension, that is, when the sound stops, the breathing will stop, and some people will suddenly wake up after a few seconds or even tens of seconds. The incidence of sleep apnea is 4%to 6%among ordinary people.

People with sleep apnea have poor sleep quality, and it is easy to doze off during the day. In addition, hypoxia caused by breathing suspension has a great impact on human health, which is likely to cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and even sudden death in sleep. Therefore, we need to be alert to snoring.

Why do people snoring

The reason for snoring is the narrowing of the respiratory tract

When we fall asleep, the muscles of the whole body are relaxed, and the muscles in the throat will also relax, which will narrow our respiratory tract. If the respiratory tract becomes too narrow, the airflow will become restless from the original flatness, causing vibration at both ends of the throat.

When these vibrations become obvious, a rough sound will be produced, and the medical community calls it "snoring." The narrower the respiratory tract, the more snoring it is [1].

This also means that any cause of the narrowing of the respiratory tract may cause snoring. Generally speaking, it contains two parts: physiological and pathological.

Obesity is one of the common causes of physiological etiology. The throat of the obese people accumulates fat, which makes the pharynx narrowing and causing snoring. In addition, excessive fatigue, smoking or drinking can also cause relaxation of the throat muscles after falling asleep, inducing or aggravated snoring.

Pathological causes are more common in nasopharyngeal diseases, such as nasal polyps, nasal nail hypertrophy, tonsil swelling, chronic pharyngitis, etc. These diseases can cause nasopharynx stenosis, resulting in unstoppable breathing air flow during sleep. In addition, central respiratory suspension caused by the central nervous system tumor, trauma, stroke, encephalitis, etc. can also cause snoring sounds.

According to statistics, snoring people account for 20%to 30%of the general population, and they are higher among middle -aged people. Among the snoring people in middle -aged and elderly people, the probability of high blood pressure, stroke and cerebral thrombosis is much higher than that of ordinary people.

In addition, with the relaxation of the pharyngeal muscles of the elderly, when the cerebrovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary heart disease, etc., the tongue falling is more prone to occur, and then respiratory suspension of low ventilation syndrome. In other words, snoring elderly people are more likely to have symptoms of apnea.

What is sleep respiratory suspension syndrome

When normal people sleep, deepen, slow, uniform, and stable, no sound will be made. If the sound is like a thunder, it is interrupted, and there are ambush, which proves that the upper airway obstruction is serious.

If you sometimes hold your breath, difficulty breathing, or breathing or suspension, the time can be over a few seconds or more than 10 seconds. A hypoxia performance such as lips can be wake up in sleep. The number of suspension exceeds 30 times and the timely suspension time exceeds 10 seconds. The clinical diagnosis is diagnosed as sleep respiratory suspension syndrome.

Middle -aged and elderly people are high -risk groups of sleep and respiratory suspension syndrome, with an incidence of 20%to 40%.

Those who suffer from sleep and breathing syndrome are snoring during sleep and accompanied by opening breathing, frequent breathing, restlessness, and being wake up repeatedly during sleep. At night, angina pectoris, heart rate disorders, or increasing nighturia.

This kind of people are also very lethargic when they wake up, and they will have symptoms such as higher blood pressure and headache after waking up. For a long time, in addition to increasing the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents, snoring will also cause human memory and slow response, and even some elderly people will have depression.

What are the ways to prevent snoring in daily life?

First, change lifestyle, such as quit smoking and alcohol, adjust your sleeping posture.

Smoking can damage the respiratory mucosa, aggravate the symptoms of the respiratory tract, and block the respiratory tract block. Alcohol can reduce the movement of muscles around the upper respiratory tract and increase the risk of sleeping and respiratory suspension of syndrome. Therefore, quitting smoking and drinking, especially to avoid drinking before going to bed, can better prevent snoring.

In addition, try to avoid supine when you sleep, and you can take a side sleeping position, so that you can open the airway and reduce the snoring.

Second, do not eat too much before going to bed, especially the elderly with gastroesophageal reflux, pay attention to properly raising the bedside to avoid cough and misuses caused by reflux foods.

Third, try to use sedative hypnotic pills to assist sleep before going to bed, especially patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or sequelae of cerebrovascular disease, so as not to aggravate the suppression of the respiratory center regulation.

Fourth, obese people should control their diet and enhance physical exercise. Only by weight loss control weight can we best solve the problem of airway compression.

Fifth, the elderly should pay attention to blood pressure monitoring and take antihypertensive drugs on time. In order to prevent myocardial infarction and sudden sudden incidents.

Sixth, patients with snoring should prevent colds and treat nasal blockage in time.

Seventh, it is recommended that patients with severe snoring go to the respiratory department for sleep and respiratory monitoring, and receive pneumatic positive pressure ventilation, oral appliances or surgery according to the results.

In short, snoring is a respiratory disease, which requires active prevention to maintain good health. If the snoring is caused by drinking, fatigue, taking drugs, etc., then there is no need to be treated, only the external cause of snoring is removed.

However, if long -term snoring, symptoms of daily respiratory suspension, especially the elderly, should go to the hospital in time to find the cause and treat the corresponding treatment in time.
