A new study published in "PLOS ONE" shows that gardening is indeed good for our mental health, and gardening activities can reduce the pressure, anxiety and depression of healthy women.

Researchers at the University of Florida recruited 32 women aged 26 to 49 to participate in the research. In the study, half of the participants were assigned to the gardening course, and the other half was assigned to the art production course. In the gardening course, participants learned how to compare and sow seeds, transplant different types of plants, and harvest and taste edible plants. Those who participated in the art production courses studied papermaking, printmaking, painting, and collage technologies. The two groups met twice a week for a total of eight times. After the course, the participants completed a series of anxiety, depression, stress and emotional testing to evaluate the curative effect of the course.

The results show that over time, women participating in gardening and art courses have experienced similar improvements in psychological health, and women participating in gardening courses have been improved greater.
