In 2007, a young assistant professor David Dosa published a SCI journal article that may be the most influential in his life.

The article was published in one of the four top issues in the medical field, "New England Medical Magazine" (Nejm). The whole article was short, only 1 and a half pages, and more than 1,000 words, but caused a stir. DOSA accepted countless interviews for this, and later became a best -selling writer.

Because the protagonist of this article, Oscar, is a cat who can predict human death. As of DOSA, Oscar has accurately predicted the death of at least 25 people.

"God Cat" Oscar one day

Although published in the well -known medical publication, the article "One Day of Cat Oscar" uses a pen -like tone similar to suspense novels.

"The cat Oscar woke up from a nap, opened one eye to look at his kingdom ... He looked down at the two wings of the dementia ward of the sanatorium, and the west and the east line were silent."

Next, the cat started his own routine task- "inspection".

"God Cat" Oscar

Oscar will jump to the bed and smell the smell on the patient. Most of the time, he will leave quickly. But this time, he stayed in the 313 ward and curled up next to Mrs. K.

After seeing this scene, the nurse immediately returned to the office and found the family phone recorded on Mrs. K's case, and informed them to come over.

The pastor was in place. At the beginning of the ceremony, the relatives were prepared to keep the night. After 30 minutes, Mrs. K swallowed the last breath.

In the sobbing sound of sadness, Oscar sat up, looked around, and then left quietly, "deeply hidden skills and names."

The record of this day occurred when the Oscar was two years old; and this mysterious process has long been convention in this rehabilitation center.

When Oscar was still a kitten, he was adopted from an animal shelter. Later, he became a medical "person" who provided emotional comfort and companionship. Essence The center is committed to taking care of people with severe dementia and late diseases.

As early as the Oscar was about 6 months old, the staff noticed that it seemed to like to sleep on the dying patient.

At first everyone thought it was just a coincidence, but when Oscar made the 13th judgment of the 13th time, people believed its talent.

It turns out that Oscar's judgment is more accurate than experienced medical staff. Once, they found that a patient had stopped eating, had difficulty breathing, and a morbid light blue appeared on the legs, which usually meant that death was coming. But Oscar refused to stay by her.

People thought that Oscar's "undefeated myth" was about to be broken, but the dying patient persisted for 10 hours. Oscar arrived on time in the last two hours of her life.

Whether it is the staff of the rehabilitation center or the family members of the patient, everyone has not regarded Oscar as a furry "horror death". Instead, they are grateful to the accurate prediction of Oscar and give their family members a chance to have the last time to spend their lives with patients.

On the wall of the hospital, there was a plaque gift to Oscar: "Thank him for his full care of sympathy."

Oscar -like Oscar, which is favored by academic circles

David DOSA is currently an associate professor in medical services, health services, policies and practice associate professors. He has won special certificates for the United States Congress, the Teaching Award of Volon Alper Medical College, and the National Humanities Award issued by the American Higherie Care and Passing Treatment Association.

But his most popular achievements are to create a best -selling book- "Making Rounds with Oscar: The ExtraordInarygift of An Ordining". This book has been published in more than 20 countries around the world.

DOSA and Oscar

But unfortunately, whether it is published in the New England Medical Magazine or in a bestseller, DOSA has not explored the mechanism behind Oscar's amazing talent too much.

He said that there is no scientific evidence to explain the ability of Oscar. His main interest is not in -depth research on Oscar, but to use Oscar to tell the relationship between terminal illness and humans -this is his main work area.

But one thing may be worthy of scientists that Oscar is not a special case of nature. In another place in the United States -Seattle, a cat named "Buckwheat" also has similar features.

Like Oscar, buckwheat also works in a nursing center. He would climb on the bed of the dead, curled up and lay down, stabbed them with his nose, and accompanied them through the process of death until the staff of the funeral home arrived.

Although Oscar's secrets are not known to scientists, scientists are not interested in this top cat.

Look at the topics of these academic papers:

"If a cat Oscar is fine, will we not do it? —— Commented that artificial intelligence's low blood pressure during surgery" was published in 2019.

"Revisiting Classic Cases: Cat Oscar and Death", published in 2016.

It can be seen that more than ten years have passed, and Oscar, as the "academic flow" of the cat world, has never been forgotten. How is Oscar now?

So what about this legendary cat?

Just in February 2022, Steir House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center announced a message on Facebook:

"We announced with a sad mood that our pet's treatment cat Oscar died after a beautiful 17 years. Oscar served our residents, staff and families to provide comfort and companionship for everyone. On the 22nd, he walked quietly with his friends, and he was loved by our community. "

As of 2017 reports, Oscar has witnessed the death of more than 100 patients.
