The latest research results released by "Communication -Earth and the Environment" show that by the end of this century, global temperatures will rise by 3 ° C, and more than 5 billion people may be exposed in dangerous high temperatures and humid environments every year.

When the thermal index (indicator of relative humidity and air temperature) exceeds 39 ° C, it is a dangerous high temperature and humidity for humans, which can cause heat spasm and fatigue.

When the thermal index is higher than 51 ° C, it will cause human heat stroke and death. This weather is considered extremely dangerous.

Lucas Zeppetello and colleagues in Harvard University in the United States and colleagues simulated a series of greenhouse gas emissions based on the global population and economic growth at the end of this century.

They found that by 2100, the global average temperature will rise by 2.1 ° C to 4.3 ° C.

Then they studied how global warming changed heat and humidity within the area.

The researchers assume that the daily weather is similar to the historical model in the future. Zeppetello said, "We hope that June will be the same as June of the past two or three decades, just a bit hot. Some places will be more dry or humid."

They found that by 2100, the most likely to occur at 3 ° C.

By 2050, 1/4 to half of the tropical and subtropical regions will experience dangerous weather every year.

By the end of this century, it will cause dangerous high temperatures every year.

In this case, by 2100, 5.3 billion people from India, Sahara southern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula will be exposed at high temperatures at extremely dangerous at 15 days a year -when the thermal index will exceed 51 ° C.

Where is the equatorial place far away, there may be 15 to 90 days of dangerous high temperatures each year.

Cascade Tuholske, who has not participated in this research, said that the research results were "shocking" and said that stopping emissions was the best way to avoid extreme high temperature effects. Other response measures also included better fever education education Essence

"We need to make people understand that high temperatures are fatal," said Kristie Ebi at the University of Washington.
