EU requires natural gas inventory of member states to reach 80% before this winter

The provision states that considering that the gas storage capacity and national conditions are largely different, member states can partial gas storage targets by storing liquefied natural gas or replacing fuel. Given that there are no natural gas storage facilities in some member states, these countries can store 15%of domestic natural gas consumption in other member states each year.

The EU Council also agreed to the two policy guidelines on improving energy efficiency and renewable energy use. It is planned to increase the proportion of renewable energy in energy structure from the current 32%to 40%by 2030, while reducing energy use. Relevant content also needs to be further negotiated with the European Parliament before approval.

The EU Minister of Energy held a meeting in Luxembourg that day. EU member of EU Council Cadri Simatong, who is responsible for energy affairs, said at a press conference that day that although the current natural gas supply of EU member states is still guaranteed, the supply of security risks is greater than ever.

Russia is the major natural gas supply country in the European Union. At present, Russia has decreased or stopped serving natural gas to 12 EU member states. At this stage, Russia's natural gas exports to the European Union is only half a year ago.
