It is reported that in the past few months, Kazumi Sato, a nutritionist at Qianshou Qingye Middle School, has received news about the rise in the price of ingredients. Considering the economic difficulties faced by many students' families, the local government is unwilling to pass the expensive school lunch burden to parents. For Sato, this means that lunch recipes need to be continuously adjusted so that the school cafeteria does not exceed the budget.

Sato told Reuters, "I tried to provide timely fruits one to twice a month, but it was difficult to do it often." She said that she had used jelly or a small piece of handmade cake instead of fresh fruits expensive in Japan. She uses a lot of bean sprouts as cheap alternatives as much as possible, but she is worried that if the price will continue to rise, she will do nothing.

Sato said, "I don't want the children to be disappointed, they may feel that these meals are sad."

Reuters said that in Japan, which is not used to rising prices, inflation is becoming an increasingly serious political issue, and many families feel pressure.

Sato said that now a can of 18 -liter oil is more than 1750 yen (about 87 yuan) than a year ago, and the price of onions has doubled. The Japanese government has strict nutritional requirements for public schools, so before the school was forced to raise fees to parents, nutritionists could only do so much.

The authorities want to avoid this, because they know that the poor Japanese families have problems in ensuring children's diet. Education workers and government officials said that after returning to school at the end of the summer vacation, some children were obviously thinner.

It is reported that in the Zuli District of Tokyo, the lunch budget set by public middle schools is about 334 yen (about 16.5 yuan), of which 303 yen (about 15 yuan) comes from home charges.

Sato was worried that as energy and food prices rose further, especially at the end of the academic year, the government allocated funds began to run out. She said: "This year's rainy season ends early, so it may have a great impact on vegetables. I am worried about what will happen this fall and later."

According to the Japanese media reports before, due to the depreciation of the yen, the price of Japanese food has risen sharply, and all schools in Japan are trying to reduce the cost of meal supply. Tokyo Metago Elementary School reduces high -priced vegetables such as cucumber and uses cheaper fish and fruits. Many schools in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan cancel the supply of fried chicken.
