2024 Paris Olympic Table Tennis Table Tennis Project Qualification System Release

On July 11, the International Table Tennis Federation (International Table Tennis Federation) and the International Olympic Committee (International Olympic Committee) released the 2024 Paris Olympic Table Tennis Project Qualification System.

The system will ensure that the world's best athletes can fight the Olympic Games and present a wonderful and exciting table tennis duel to the audience.

The qualification competition will be launched in June 2023. The 2024 Paris Olympic Table Tennis competition will include five items: men and women's singles, men and women's groups, and mixed doubles competitions. Athletes are still 172 (86 men and women), including 6 host places and 2 participating seats. The quota of the Olympic Committee in each country and region is 3 men and women.

There are 16 teams in the team competition. Each country and region Olympic Committee can send 3 players to form a team.

There are also 16 pairs of mixed doubles competitions, and the Olympic Committee of each country and region can send 1 pair of combinations.

In terms of singles, according to the remaining quotas of the mixed doubles quota, at most 70 men and women can participate in the singles competition, and the Olympic Committee of each country and region can send a maximum of 4 players (two men and women). Two athletes in each participating team are shortlisted for singles projects.

The host will receive two groups (one each of the men and women), the four singles places (2 men and women), and 1 mixed dual place.

The Olympic table tennis competition will be held from July 27th to August 10th, 2024. The first final time is July 30 (Tuesday). The competition venue is Hall 4 of the South Paris Arena. This is an exhibition and conference center, and will become the main competition center of the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.

The table tennis project first debuted in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. At that time, there were 4 small items of men's, women's singles and doubles. In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the doubles match was changed to a group match, and the total number of small items was still 4. The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games added dual -dual -double, with a total of 5 projects, ensuring the number of men and women contestants reached the same.
