The Asian Australian Council stated in the statement that the 19th Asian Games was originally scheduled to be held in Hangzhou from September 10th to 25th, 2022. Affected by the new crown epidemic, the Executive Committee of the Asian Olympic Council decided on May 6, 2022 to postpone the establishment of the special working group to discuss the latest date after the Asian Games.

In the past two months, the special working group has held multiple rounds of negotiations with the Chinese Olympic Committee, Hangzhou Asian Organizing Committee and other relevant parties to find the window period and ensure that they do not conflict with other international comprehensive sports events. The proposal of the working group was approved by the Executive Committee of the Asians Council.

The Asian Olympic Council expressed his gratitude to the Hangzhou Asian Organizing Committee, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Chinese governments at all levels during the epidemic.
