CCTV News: China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) conducts scientific investigations on the "Red Mountains" in the cocoa area

Recently, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) has conducted a second Yangtze River source scientific examination. On July 18, scientific research players conducted a scientific inspection of the "Red Mountains" located in the middle of the Cocoic Basin.

According to experts, the "Red Mountains" of the Coco Sili Basin are mainly formed in the late Baiji Period to ancient times from more than 70 million to 30 million years. The mountains are approaching, and the slopes are asymmetric, the south is steep and north, and the section of the stratum is clearly exposed. It is a spectacular ancient geological relic on the Qinghai -Tibet Plateau. The width of more than 160 kilometers from the north and south of the red formation, the length of the east -west extension of nearly 600 kilometers, and the large exposed area of ​​the red ground is rare in China. This "Red Mountains" is the tattoos and erosion of the brick red and purple rocks of Tanggula Mountains, which were transported by the river to the cocoa Sili basin, and the ground was exposed after being transformed by the geological structure movement in the later period, forming the current geomorphic.

The Geological landscape of the Cocoic Sili is not only expected to become a large "geological park" in Coco Siri. The rich geological information contained in the Qinghai -Tibet Plateau will be closely related to the process of studying the Qinghai -Tibet Plateau.
