Carnations are the most important flower plants in European and American flower growers. In the late 1960s, carnations were planted in Colombia. From the 1980s to the 1990s, carnations had accounted for more than 60%of their cut flowers.

The popularity of carnation has risen again. Carnations can quickly become popular because it has a bottle insertion life of up to 7 days and the degree of tolerance for transportation conditions. Carnations have a variety of pleasing colors, suitable for various specific holiday occasions. Moreover, carnation plants are relatively easy to plant, and shift from soil farming to hydroponic production or steam disinfection can effectively control serious diseases such as withering disease. However, with the improvement and improvement of transportation, packaging, and post -mining processing technology, roses and many other people who previously thought that they had a short life after the distant market, and only suitable for short -distance transportation to other countries. At this time, Carnation seemed to have lost its charm and became a "background" on the international flower stage.

However, in the past few years, Introduction and growers have not given up. They have been working hard to study and develop new varieties, and have achieved certain results. Carnations' market share has rebounded. With the spread of the new crown epidemic, the popularity of carnation has risen again, becoming the theme flower of Valentine's Day in 2022. In early March, the Colombian Shizhu Week event also confirmed this trend. The flower industry suddenly fell in love with carnations again.

Colombia is a well -deserved main place of carnation. During the Shizhu Zhou event, nine Carnations growers in Colombia showed 250 carnations of various forms and colors, which is amazing. Single carnation has "rolled back" in the past few years. Carnishment has a series of amazing new colors to choose from now. In addition, because the bottle interruption period is longer, consumers have begun to like carnation during the epidemic blockade period. The main targets of the international trade international trade of Cut of Carnations are the United States, the Netherlands, Japan and other countries (see Figure 1). However, according to the statistics of the United Nations Commodity and Trade Commission (UN Comtrade), carnations are spreading all corners of the world, with more than 100 countries in more than 100 countries at least $ 100,000 in 2020.

The United States, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany and Britain accounted for 70%of the global carnation trade. Germany and Britain have reduced imports in the past 10 years, but have added carnation procurement through the Dutch auction market. Emerging markets include Poland and Belarus, the latter is the transit hub of the Russian market.

Statistics show that imports from several countries such as the United States, Britain and Russia have increased significantly. However, a report from Germany shows that the decrease in carnation imports in 2021 may be related to Germany's purchase of carnation through the Netherlands.

Through the analysis of the five main importers in the United States, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom, it can further understand the source and trade flow of carnations. Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico are closest to the US market. Export products of these countries occupy a large proportion in the US carnation market (see Figure 2). Turkey's products are increasingly entering the European market through the Netherlands, but they also directly sell in Germany and British markets (see Figures 3, 5 and 6). Chinese carnation products are exported to the Japanese market (see Figure 4). However, Colombia provides most of the carnations imported from Japan.

About half of the world's carnations are exported from Colombia. About 60%of the products are single, 40%are multi -headed or micro products; followed by the Netherlands, mainly as transit countries; other important participants include Turkey, China and Ecuador.

In Spain and Italy in Europe, traditional carnations still occupy a certain market share. Other countries have increased carnations before 2014, but now they have begun to decrease (see Figure 7).

Floriade African Chrysanthemum and Summer Flower Award for the Dutch World Garden

On July 14, FLORIADE African Chrysanthemum and Summer Flower Awards were announced.

A total of 20 products signed up for this award. In the end, Paul Vernooij, the Netherlands, topped the list in summer flower projects. His Acanthus Mollis and Molucella Laevis won each other respectively.Gold and bronze awards.Van Ruiten from the Netherlands won the silver award with Fulukao 'pale pink'.Among the African chrysanthemums, the African chrysanthemum ‘Mini Carnisarez’ from the Almeler greenhouse team won the best award.

In addition, the African chrysanthemum ‘Pomponi Power Ball’ has won the Floriade Excellence Award for its soft pink and white.

This award is the seventh of the 13 Dutch World Garden Association's best greenhouse exhibition awards.This is the planting quality award, which is selected by a professional jury team from the products submitted by the Netherlands and its overseas colleagues.The 13 awards were opened from the World Garden to September 27.The next award will be exotic flowers, cut flowers, potted red palms and potted orchid awards, and will be awarded on July 27.
