The construction of Hainan Tourism Highway started on December 31, 2020. It is a major infrastructure project of Hainan Free Trade Port. It is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2023.The main mileage of the main line of Tourism Highway in Hainan is 988.2 kilometers. It runs through 12 cities, counties, and Yangpu Economic Development Zone along Haikou, Qionghai, and Sanya.
As of July 20, 2022, the Hainan Tourism Highway Project has completed a total of 7.814 billion yuan, accounting for 54.3%of the budget investment of 14.39 billion yuan.
