The Director -General of the WHO Tan Desai said at a press conference at the Geneva headquarters in Switzerland that more than 70%of the cases reported in Europe and 25%in the Americas; about 10%were hospitalized for treatment; and 5 deaths have been reported to date.

Tan Desai said: "This is an epidemic that can be stopped ... The best way is to reduce the risk of contact, which means making a safe choice for yourself and others."
