This illustration comes from "Boots Cat" published in 1885. The illustration depicts the scene where the cat wearing a boot is to present the rabbit to the king. Like many classic fairy tales, "Cat wearing Boots" is not the original of Charles Pero. In the Italian fairy tale "Five Day Talks" published in 1634, we can see such a story:

The beggar's son inherited a cat from his father, and nothing else was. This cat promised to make him rich. Every morning, the cat will catch the fish, then bring the fish to the king of Naples, and tell the king that this is a mysterious benefactor named Kagrio Son.

One day, the king wanted to see the generous master. So the king gave some clothes to the master. The beggar's son wore the clothes from the king to visit the king and was hospitable. The cat took the opportunity to tell the king that Lord Gagrio is very rich, and the king should form an alliance with him. The king sent a servant to investigate secretly, but was deceived by cats. The Lord quickly married the king's daughter, bought a large area of ​​land with the princess's dowry, and lived a wealthy life.

The cat asked the owner, if it died, buried it with a golden coffin. In order to test the owner, the cat pretended to be fake, but he heard that the owner ordered his wife to throw the cat out of the window. The cat was furious, rising from the window, and never returned, leaving Lord Gagolo Sodo to take care of himself in the future.
