When you see a lizard walking elegantly with your limbs, it must be hard to imagine what it looks like when it escapes.

As shown in the figure, when the lizard is in danger, it will suddenly stand upright and run desperately with two legs! It looks like you can work lightly! The strange posture when they run, and they also won the title of "Animal Bicycle".

On the Internet, the lizard's outrageous running posture has attracted a lot of attention. It looks strange and funny, and through this kind of running, the lizard can really "light the water"!

In our general cognition, animals with four legs often run faster than animals with two legs. For example, the speed of Cheetah's sprint can reach 100 km/h, and the speed of some dogs can reach 70 kilometers/h. Even a cat, its fastest speed can reach 40 km/h. And human beings, even the fastest sprint health will be Bolt, he runs in 9 seconds and 58 in 100 meters, which is only about 38 kilometers/h.

Two more legs seem to be able to run faster. Scientists also use physical and mathematical models to speculate this. They believe that in the process of animal running, the legs will experience energy loss, and if you have more legs, it means more legs to compensate for loss of energy. In this way, it will be more stable when running.

However, the influence when running is often complicated, nor is it determined by the number of legs. Others are also proposed in the study, such as weight and legs. And this is also confirmed here.

The lizard has four legs, but why did I give up my front leg when running, and run only with two hind legs? In order to figure out this problem, the researchers caught 16 kinds of lizards and returned to the laboratory and put them on the treadmill to practice running. This process was also taken to facilitate further observation.

Some people have suggested that lizards may have a special physical structure, and running with two legs will be faster than four legs. But the researchers quickly denied this. After watching the video, they found that even if the two legs ran fast, they should not be as good as four legs. And the two legs need to bear a lot of pressure.

In the end, they believed that the lizard might be forced to be helpless and forced to run with two legs.

When they run at a high speed, the sudden increase in the acceleration will move the center of gravity of the lizard to the hips, so that they are forced to lift the two front legs and start sprint. This feeling is like riding a motorcycle to accelerate, and the front wheels suddenly lift up!

It turns out that even if it was a lizard 100 million years ago, it had to be sanctioned by the laws of physics. Paramranologists found the oldest lizard footprints in the fossils, and also found pterosaur footprints nearby.

This shows that the lizard may be chased by pterosaur at the time, and scientists were also surprised to find that at this time, the lizard had begun to run with two hind legs.

The snake monster lizard structure that can "light the water" is more special. When this lizard steps on the water, the foot will push the water from the bottom of the feet, and a cavity is formed between the soles of the feet and the water surface. Before the cavity closed, the lizard will quickly change their feet.

In addition to supporting the body to run forward, the feet of the snake monster lizard will also have the force in other directions to maintain their body balance. Researchers say that you can think of this process as a "bicycle". When you continue to step on the pedal, you will drive smoothly.

But if you stop, it will fall immediately, and the same is true of the lizard's progress. This is why we see the lizard walking on the water, and it will feel "hot".

In addition to running two feet on the ground, other strange behaviors of the lizard also attracted the attention of scientists. For example: Why do lizards do push -ups?

Researchers have observed that the lizard will support the scene of "push -ups" in the front paw. For some lizards, each of them must adhere to this behavior sooner or later. Is the lizard world began to "roll"?

However, according to studies, this "push -up" is actually a way of communication. It is the lizard who uses action to tell other competitors: "I'm strong, don't approach." And it can also be used to swore its own territorial sovereignty.

The lizard is actually talking to you. | Giphy

This method of communicating through visual signals is actually the same as us. The lizard may be a language master in this regard. For example, some lizards do not do push -ups, but shake the throat fan near the chin, just like waving the banner. It is to tell you "I am happy today" or "See me good!"

All in all, when we start to understand everything about lizards, we will find that under the appearance of their "cold -blooded animals", there are actually some very interesting behaviors, and they can even use these behaviors to talk to you.

When you think the lizard is very cold, you can look at it.
