Recently published a new study published in "Internal Journal of Psychology Behavior Analysis" told us a tips for identifying lies.

Researchers at the University of Puzmouth found that lying consumes more cognitive energy than telling the truth. If you need to complete other tasks while lying, the credibility and clarity of the liar story will be greatly reduced, which is more likely to be exposed.

In the experiment, 164 participants need to express their attitude towards social issues. One group of participants tell the truth, and the other needs to lie in the interview. Part of the lying participants also need to complete the secondary task of remembering the seven license plate numbers, and they were told that the task was very important and forgot that there may be punishment.

Studies have found that when participants need to complete a secondary task that cannot be ignored, it is more likely to be exposed. Regardless of whether it is carefully prepared in advance, two tasks are extremely challenging for those who lie. The rationality, instantability, credibility and clarity of lies have been greatly affected.

Next time, if you are worried that someone will lie to you, let him do a distraction task at the same time to try to expose the lies. For example, you can reduce the 7 tasks while writing (starting 7 from 1000) and talk to you.
