In addition, according to the Cuban Electric Power Alliance on August 8, affected by the fire accident of the Matanas Provincial Petroleum Reserve Base, the Antonio Gitras Thermal Plant near the oil storage base stopped operating around 13 local time. It is reported that the reason for the suspension of the heat power plant is water shortage. Although measures have been taken through the pipeline to supply water, it is still not enough to maintain its operation. The Cuban Electric Power Alliance stated that it was impossible to ensure that the thermal power plant can restore operations during the peak period of electricity consumption.

It is understood that as of 14, the country's power supply gap has exceeded 1,200 MW. The impact caused by insufficient power generation is expected to last afternoon and evening, and the power supply of the capital Havana was also affected during the day.
