Li Tianyou: The reason why the BRICS country is important is not only because it has 40%of the world's population and 25%of the global GDP, but more importantly it has contributed to global development. After the first ten years of development, the cooperation between the BRICS countries achieved significant results. In the financial field, the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) was established to provide infrastructure financing for member states and developing countries. Global Times: What cooperation projects did China and Portuguese countries carry out under the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative?

Li Tianyou: Most Portuguese countries have signed a cooperation agreement to join the “Belt and Road” initiative with China. In the "Belt and Road" initiative framework, many cooperative projects are developing. China has built 6 land economic corridors and 3 offshore blue economic channels. China participates in the construction of 20 deep -sea ports in Portuguese -speaking countries in different ways such as investment, management, and technology. In terms of setting up a special economic zone, in the 24 special economic zones developed by Portuguese countries, China has participated in 5 of them. China also supports the construction of a new campus for San Domome and Princesby.

Global Times: How do you evaluate the economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese, especially Portugal in recent years?

Li Tianyou: In recent years, China's economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese, especially Portugal, has continued to develop. China's bilateral trade with Brazil is the largest, followed by Angola, the third in Portugal, and its export value to China accounts for 20%of the total export value. The relationship between Portuguese and China is not limited to bilateral sides, but as a whole as a regional community. China has a market with a population of 1.4 billion, and Portuguese -speaking countries also have a market with more than 200 million population. The development potential of Sino -Portuguese relations is huge, and China has invested in Portugal's investment in many fields such as energy, medical care, and bank insurance. The two countries can also cooperate in the fields of nanotechnology, especially satellite applications, cultural heritage protection. In addition, the blue economy may be the most promising field of cooperation between the two countries. Portugal is the first country in the European Union to formally establish a "blue partnership" with China. In the next few years, it will have a good development. Portugal is also the first European country to formulate green hydrogen energy production plans, while China is the world's largest solar and wind energy producer.
