There is a saying: "Bian Mu is a border shepherd, a dog is a dog."

It is generally believed that border shepherds are the most "smart" varieties of dogs. On the Internet, we can often see Bian Mu's words that follow the host's instructions, and netizens tease, "Don't delay the dog to go to college."

Is Bian Mu so smart?

At present, the smartest dog in the world is a Bianmu Chaser from South Carolina, USA. Its owner is a retired psychology professor. Two months since Chaser, the owner has intended to train it to know its noun.

The owner will take a blue ball, show it in front of Chaser, tell it what it is, and then throw the ball out and let it pick it back. This repeated practice, on the third day, Chaser can pick up the items accurately.

Through this method, when Chaser was five months old, he had already recognized 40 nouns.

Later, Chaser was familiar with this model, and it was getting faster and faster to learn from the West. New items could be recognized once. Among the 15 -year -old dogs, it learned more than 1,000 nouns, and can also understand some adjectives, such as large, small, fast, and slow.

Coincidentally, a border animal named Rico in Germany was also found to have similar talents. It can correspond to 200 items with its labels. Researchers believe that the speed of Rico learning new things is similar to that of three -year -old children.

But not all border herds are so smart.

An animal behaviorist Fugazza has done an experiment with 34 pet dogs of different varieties. She asked the owner to teach the names of two different toys of these dogs. In the end, there was only a border Mu called Oliva successfully recognized these two types of toys and passed the test.

Of the 33 dogs that failed, 18 were border herds. This means that even in the same variety of dogs, the talent of learning varies from dogs.

In fact, the "Xueba" in the dogs is not only the side shepherds, but the dogs of other varieties also have relatively high "IQ", including poodles, German Shepherds, Golden Retriever retrieved dogs, Doberss, Labrado, etc.

These canine varieties can generally understand the owner's new instructions through less than 5 times, and 95%of the chances can remember this instruction.

In terms of obeying human instructions, dogs are even better than chimpanzees.

Researchers placed two locations in front of various animals, one of which has food, and people will use their fingers to the direction of food. The chimpanzees will ignore people's hints and go to one of the places randomly; cats will stare at people's fingers strangely.

Only dogs will follow people's instructions and rush to food places without hesitation.

Dogs are very good at observing and imitating humans.

Psychologists often use a "winding problem". That is, a V -shaped fence is placed in front of the puppy, the bottom of the V -shaped is facing the puppy, and there is food behind the fence.

If the puppy wants to eat food, it must bypass the fence, that is, it must be farther and farther away from the target to achieve the purpose. Generally, puppies can be successfully eaten after trying four to five times. But if humans be demonstrated in front of it first, the puppy will be successful once.

In contrast, some dogs are very "disobedient", such as Chow Chow, Bull Fighting Dog, Sanbonine Dog, Chihuahua, Afghan Hound, etc.

Researchers have trained the Chow Chow and found that light is a "sitting down" instruction. The chopstick dog has an average of 80 ~ 100 times to make it. And there is only a 25%chance to remember this instruction after that.

The maximum can grow to 40 kg. Image source: pinterest

Everyone's favorite Husky is slightly better than the Chow Chow dog, and the instructions can learn from 25 to 40 times.

However, some researchers believe that those who are difficult to train are not due to IQ, but personality. In the training of trainer ranking, it is generally because they are easily distracted in training, attracted by other odors or sounds, and obstruct their skill learning.

So, if your dog is not very smart, you can defend it like this: "My dog has a personality."

The same reason, not "smart" dogs can become guide dogs. Dogs that cannot be a guide dog are generally due to personality issues, including strong fear, excessive excitement, shyness, attacking others, or lack of cooperation.

And only dogs who love this job can become guide dogs.

Guide dogs are very focused when they go to work, so see the guide dogs on the road, do not touch and feed. After "get off work", they will play with the owner like ordinary pets to get caressing.

So, what are the factors that affect the sociality and personality of a dog?

Researchers have found that one of the critical factors is the severe degree of puppy mother at the weaning period.

Generally, when puppies are around or five weeks, we will gradually start weaning, and the mother will refuse to feed the puppy again. Some mothers will be more severe, and they will refuse to ask it for milk with a roar and grinning gesture; while some mothers are gentle, choose to use licking and touching the dog baby.

The severe degree of mother in the weaning period will directly affect the good or bad of getting along with humans when the puppy grows up.

In order to judge the degree of domestication of puppies, the researchers will "retrieve tests" to the puppy, that is, throw a tennis out and let the puppy back. Those who cannot find tennis are generally difficult to domesticate when they grow up, and puppies with a gentle mother often perform better in this test.

It should be emphasized that although genetic and growth environment affects the difficulty of dog training, through appropriate skills and training, most dogs can master certain skills and adapt to a living environment of coexistence with humans.

Stanley Coren, a psychologist who studies dogs, believes: "The difference between two different dogs in any dog breed should be far greater than the difference between different dog species or blood."

About 15,000 years ago, humans began to domesticate dogs.

Dogs can exchange food by getting close to humans, and fully understand the owner's intentions, which can make them get greater opportunities for survival. Therefore, under the long -term natural choice and manual choice, dogs have become the most complicated signals that understand human beings, and the most understandable domestic animals that understand human emotions.

Dogs like you, because of a conditional reflection. You feed them, play with them, stroke them, and give them a comfortable nest, which can make the puppy feel happy, and this feeling is closely related to you.

Similarly, if you are angry, crying, and noisy, the dog will have an unpleasant response.

As a long -term companion of human beings, what we are pursuing is not to cultivate the most "smart" dogs in the world, but to hope that dogs will become our most loyal, tacit, and understanding partner.

At this point, maybe dogs do better than humans.
