On June 20, Dai Bing, deputy representative of the United Nations in the United Nations, spoke at the UN Security Council's South Sudan public meeting, calling on the Security Council to lift the weapon embargo against South Sudan as soon as possible.

Dai Bing said that the transition period of South Sudan will end next year. China hopes that all parties of South Sudan will maintain their current positive momentum and steadily and orderly realize various goals such as political structure, security arrangements, and economic reforms. Regarding the special challenges facing South Sudan's implementation of the South Sudan Conflict Revitalization Agreement, the international community must maintain the need to be patient and help to overcome practical difficulties, rather than blindly putting over pressure and criticism of sanctions.

Dai Bing said that the Security Council should respond to the African Union's call and lift the weapon embargo against South Sudan as soon as possible. The United States has repeatedly imposed unilateral sanctions on other countries, causing great harm to the people of relevant countries. Sanctions cannot be used as a tool for political suppression, and dual standards cannot be engaged in. More and more members of the Security Council do not support the current sanctions against South Sudan. The conflict of the South Sudan tribe has a long history, and it should be dealt with through various methods such as prevention, mediation, dialogue, and development. The United Nations Secretary -General's report pointed out that tribal conflicts mainly originated from resource competition. The international community should help South Sudan develop the economy, improve people's livelihood, and eliminate the roots of conflict.

Dai Bing said that the economic reform of South Sudan has achieved certain results, and the macroeconomic has maintained stability. At the same time, the gap between humanitarian demand is still large, and the problem of food security is still prominent. China has called on the international community to maintain and increase its assistance to South Sudan, and maintain and increase the scale of donation to UN humanitarian and development agencies. At the same time, the international community also focuses on helping South Sudan to strengthen its own development capacity building, fully respect the autonomy of the economic development of South Sudan, release the potential of agriculture, energy, infrastructure and other fields, and help the people of South Sudan realize their self -reliance as soon as possible.
