Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, July 5th (Reporter Peng Qian) With technological progress such as deep learning, artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in the development of new drugs. Recently, the international research team involved in Chinese scholars used artificial intelligence to discover the potential treatment targets of "frozen disease", providing new ideas for the treatment of the disease.

The name of the "Floxy" medicine is muscle atrophy side sclerosis. It is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord, causing motor neuron to die, and the brain cannot control muscle exercise. The main clinical manifestation is that muscle gradually shrinks and weak, and patients will eventually die due to respiratory failure. At present, the treatment principles of "frozen disease" are mainly reduced symptoms. Drugs that have been approved to treat "frozen disease" can hardly reverse any neurodegeneration symptoms of patients.

In the study of the cooperation between artificial intelligence drug research and development company Yingsilian Intelligent, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Harvard University Affiliated Massachusetts Comprehensive Hospital, China Tsinghua University and other institutions, researchers used artificial intelligence named "Pandaomics" The biological target discovery platform analyzes a large number of central nervous system sample transcription group data from multiple public data sets, as well as transcription groups and protein set data of motor neuron samples in patients with "frozen".

By analyzing big data related to the progress of "Feice" diseases, artificial intelligence has determined 17 high trust targets and 11 new treatment targets. The researchers subsequently verified in the fruit fly model that simulated "frozen disease" patients, and confirmed that among the above 28 targets, 18 targets can slow the symptoms of neurodegeneration.

Related papers have recently published in the magazine of the international journal "Aging Neuroscience". Lu Bai, one of the author of the paper and a professor at the School of Pharmacy of Tsinghua University, said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters: "From the discovery of target driven by artificial intelligence in massive data sets to biological verification in multiple model systems such as mice and fruit flies Then, the rapid clinical test through the test initiated by researchers, which represents a new trend, is expected to greatly reduce the cost and time of drug development. More importantly, the increase in success rate, especially for neurodegenerative diseases ","
