Nanhai Students won the World Robot Contest

Finals VEX Tournament Championship

Shimen Middle School Robotic Team won the Finals of the World Robot Contest Finals.

From July 8th to 10th, the Finals of the 2021 World Robot Contest started. Shimen Middle School Robotic Team competed with young players from all over the world, and finally won the World Robot Contest Finals VEX Championship.

The World Robot Contest is called the "Olympic" of the robot world. The contest has been successfully held for 7 sessions since 2015, attracting a total of nearly 200,000 players around the world to participate in the competition. The competition was combined in the form of online and offline. The total number of participants exceeded 14,000, with a total of more than 2,000 participating teams and nearly 7,000 people competing at the scene. Focusing on the three major competitions of scientific research, skills, and science popularization, the competition has set up four competitions including the combination of robot challenge, BCI brain control robot contest, robot application contest, and youth robot design contest.

In the youth robot design competition area, Shimen Middle School Ganzesen (Class 216), Lin Rilang (Class 214), Zhang Yuzhong (Class 203), and Yang Jinghan (Class 115) participated in the guidance of information technology teacher Xiao Weidong. The students carefully designed the VEX robot, united and cooperative, and gained priority to qualify for the advancement of the knockout in the case of strong player Rulin. During the knockout, the contestants made up their efforts to win the championship of the partition competition and advanced to the championship to compete for the competition. In the championship battle, the students cooperated sincerely and finally won the World Robot Contest Finals VEX Championship. "The training process of this competition is actually the process of self -study, exploration and practice of participating students." Xiao Weidong said.

The good achievements are both due to the popularity and promotion of informatics in the South China Sea District for many years, and it is also the fruit of the "head coach responsibility system" under the concept of simple education running school in Shimen Middle School.

Before winning the championship trophy of this competition, the Robot Team of Shimen Middle School has been working for many years, continuously developing and growing, and achieved fruitful results. Since its establishment in 2003, the community has formulated a detailed teaching plan every semester, and has arranged sufficient practical activities (4th quarter/week on Wednesday, 4th in the afternoon every week). The community is committed to cultivating innovative, applied, and skilled talents, and has transported a large number of outstanding students to famous universities at home and abroad over the years. Recently, Liu Hualin and Wu Zizheng of Shimen Middle School Robotics received a notice from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, a world prestigious school in the dream.
