A study released by Nature on September 21 showed that in the Anglo -Saxon era, more than 3/4 ancestors in some regions of England came from Nordic immigrants.

Duncan Sayer of the Central Lanlan University of the United Kingdom said the discovery from DNA sequences buried in this period buried in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, which may solve the problem of the current number of immigrants in the Anglo -Saxon era.

Based on the traditional views of written records and archeological discovery, in the Anglo -Saxon era, a large number of Europeans poured into the UK from the end of the Roman Empire's rule of about 400 AD to 1066.

But recently, there have been controversy about how many people immigrants have been immigrated.

"Maybe there are only a few immigrants, and then spread all aspects of their culture, such as architecture and pottery style." Robin Fleming at the Boston College in Massachusetts in the United States said, "Many historians recognized by the academic community think that there are few immigrants."

In order to learn more information, the Sayer team sequenced 460 people's DNA. These people were buried in the grave from 200 to 1300 AD, 278 of them came from the UK.

The results showed that in the 7th century AD, 76%of people buried in eastern England could be traced back to those who came from Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Sayer's colleague and Stephan Schiffels at the Institute of Entrorriters of the Institute of Evolution, Germany, said 3 of a person's grandparents were born in Europe.

The corpse found in a farther cemetery in western England, the ancestor from Europe was low, which means that immigrants first settled in the east.

Fleming said the results of the investigation confirmed that large -scale immigrants entered some areas of Britain from Europe. "This is evidence that many of us have been looking for."

"This puts the topic of immigrants on the table." Sayer said.
