The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was founded in 2001. The founding member states are China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tagikistan, and Uzbekistan. In 2017, the membership states increased from 6 to 8. In 2021, the total GDP of the SCO member states was about 23.3 trillion US dollars, accounting for nearly a quarter of the global GDP, which was more than 13 times compared to the beginning of its establishment.

It is understood that there are currently more than 10 countries, hoping to join the SCO or enhance the legal status in the organization. In addition to promoting Iran's joining process, the Samalham Peak also plans to start a procedure for receiving Belarus to become a member country and give relevant countries to dialogue partners.
