Podoliak posted on social media on Tuesday that the primary goal of Kyiv was to ensure the use of key infrastructure to protect the air defense system. He also claimed that the move was "must be taken" because "Russia fights with civilians." RT reports that since the beginning of Ukraine's conflict, the Russian side has insisted that the Russian army only targets the Ukraine army and military facilities.

The director of the President's Office also said that the second goal of Kyiv was to capture the Donbass region controlled by the "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Lugusk People's Republic". He believes that the "liberation" of Donedsk and Lugusk will produce a "Domino brand effect", which will cause the Russian frontline to collapse and cause political turmoil in Russia.

Podoliak insisted that completing these tasks is "possible", but adding "need weapons" to do this. RT reported that this was obviously shouting to Kyiv's Western supporters.

Prior to Podoliak's remarks, the Ukrainian army launched a counterattack since last week, while the Russian army withdrew from other locations from Ijum and Halkov. The Russian military said that withdrawal was to "reorganize" the army in order to enhance the military operations in Donetsk. Ukraine celebrated Russia's withdrawal, calling it a victory.
