[Global Times Comprehensive Report] Recently, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released the latest food safety report. A variety of foods in the country have found amazing heavy metal substances in the country, and infants and young children are the "severe disaster -stricken areas" of food pollution, which has aroused high attention of public opinion.

According to UPI reports on the 18th, the FDA recently released a survey report entitled "Comprehensive Diet Research", which involved thousands of food samples. The report shows that about 15%of the food sample contains lead, 43%of the sample contains arsenic, and 61%of the sample contains cadmium. Among them, individual seafood products can be called "heavy metal households", such as tuna cans and barbecue cod, such as amazing arsenic content, and some staple foods -such as rice noodles, white rice and brown rice are not low. Heavy metal cadmium also appears in a variety of common foods. Among them, the cadmium content of spinach and sunflower seeds is the highest. The cadmium content of cocoa powder and fried potato chips follows close.

In the FDA report, the heavy metal content of infant food is particularly worrying. The most content food sample comes from baby oatmeal, milling biscuits and some puffed snacks. From the perspective of American media, a variety of common foods in the United States "bright red lights" does not mean that the country's food safety situation has deteriorated. Because the FDA has launched a food safety action plan entitled "approaching zero" since April last year, this has improved the food inspection standard to some extent. Industry insiders also revealed: "It's not that the previous food condition is good, mainly because there is a limit of the detection level."

In fact, food safety issues in the United States have a long history. Earlier, hundreds of families in the United States claimed that their children had various symptoms due to foods with heavy metals with heavy metals, and the relevant departments were brought to court. The lawyer who acts on this collective lawsuit will point to the FDA, and sue the agency to protect the "bottom line of the industry" instead of consumer health. Under the "force" of social public opinion and legal disputes, the FDA has formulated a "approach to zero" action plan. (Liu Haoran)
