Wang Yi said that in 1982, the Convention on the United Nations Marine Law was officially born, opening a new chapter in global marine governance. Revisiting the Convention's Contract, purpose goals and performance practice, it has an important inspiration for the current global marine governance: first, to promote multilateralism; the other is to promote fairness and justice; and the third is to adhere to opening up and progress.

Wang Yi said that as a big country in the development of marine, China takes into account its legitimate rights and interests and the overall interests of the international community. It has always stood with the majority of developing countries and actively participated in the Convention on the Convention. It is one of the earliest countries to sign the Convention. China has always adhered to the spirit of the Convention, strictly fulfilled the obligations of the Convention, firmly safeguarded the integrity and authority of the Convention, and opposed the abuse of the "Convention" dispute resolution procedure. China has always advocated that on the basis of respecting historical facts and international law, including the Convention, it will be directly resolved to the marine disputes through friendly negotiation.

Wang Yi emphasized that at a new starting point, we must adhere to destiny and co -developed, promote the sustainable development of the ocean; adhere to dialogue and negotiation, maintain maritime peace and peace; adhere to international cooperation, protect the marine ecological environment; adhere to international rule of law and improve global marine governance.
