Norway plans to recover the storage of carbon dioxide gas to create the world's first "carbon dioxide cemetery"

[Global Times Comprehensive Report] In order to protect the ecology, Norway plans to recycle and store carbon dioxide gas generated by industrial manufacturing, and to create the world's first "carbon dioxide cemetery".

According to Agence France -Presse on the 4th, engineers are built a "carbon dioxide cemetery" called "Northern Light" in an island of Norway. After the project is completed, the carbon dioxide gas captured from the European factory chimneys will be compressed to the liquid state, and then injected into the underground rock formation. The person in charge of the project stated that this will be the world's first infrastructure of open safety treatment, transportation and permanent storage of carbon dioxide. The purpose of construction is to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere and delay climate warming.

The project was developed by the Norwegian National Petroleum Corporation, French Da Dar Energy Corporation and Yinghe Shell Petroleum Corporation. Daidal Energy Corporation said that carbon dioxide with a purity of more than 95%will be compressed to 100 pack and cooled to minus 25 degrees Celsius, and is transported in a special container to the "carbon dioxide cemetery". There, liquid carbon dioxide will inject 2600 meters of saline layer through the pipeline and dissolve in it.

It is reported that the first phase of the "Arctic Light Cemetery" will be put into use in 2024, and will be "buried" up to 1.5 million tons of liquid carbon dioxide each year. But the long -term goal is to store 1,000 to 20 million tons of carbon dioxide each year. The "French West News" pointed out that the increase in the increase in gas emissions in the world's current greenhouse is worrying. To some extent, the "Arctic Light Cemetery" provides an almost indisputable carbon dioxide storage method, which has been recommended by the European Commission, the International Energy Agency and the United Nations Intergovernmental Climate Change Special Committee. The International Energy Agency estimates that to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050, the method of storing carbon dioxide will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 10%to 15%.

However, some non -governmental organizations believe that this is a "wrong solution". Compared with "investing in renewable energy", it is "getting capital". Environmental protection organizations are also worried that the development of "carbon dioxide cemeteries" will slow down the transformation of the high pollution industry, and it "will transfer people's attention to finding real solutions." It is reported that the exhausted Beihai Oilfield provides Norway with excellent prospects for carbon dioxide storage. At present, the Norwegian government has invested 1.7 billion euros to fund the construction of related facilities as part of the promotion of related scientific and technological development plans.
