"Kuanza" is the legal currency of Angola, African countries in the southwestern part. Named currency by rivers reflects the importance of the Angola people to water. The wide water system is huge, with a large number of tributaries, and rich water energy resources. The Angola Kaikai Hydropower Station project undertaken by China Energy Construction Gezhouba Group is located in the middle of the Kuanza River, about 230 kilometers from the capital Rolanda. This is the largest hydropower station built by Chinese -funded enterprises in Angola, and is known as the "African Three Gorges Project". The project started in August 2017 and was under construction in full swing.

Chen Yonggang, manager of the Kaikai Hydropower Station project, introduced that after the completion of the hydropower station, more than 40%of the country's power supply demand can be met, and the amount of greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by about 7.2 million tons each year; power generation income will be used for infrastructure construction and natural resource development projects. Economic advantages; after the formation of the reservoir area, it has the function of peak regulation, which will greatly improve the conditions of water resources.

At the peak construction period, the project will provide more than 6,000 jobs in the local area to train a number of construction and management talents for Angola. Ruo Ze, a local employee who served as a senior administrator in the project, said: "Thank you Chinese companies for teaching a lot of engineering technologies, which is very important for Angola's future development."

The distribution of African water resources and precipitation is extremely uneven, and the development rate is low. Many countries with rich water resources are still "lack of water" and Angola is very representative: the river in the country is dense, but the civil war has severely damaged the local foundation for decades. Facilities; coupled with factors such as shortage of funds and relatively backward technology, the development of water resources has been restricted, hindering the local economic development.

For more than ten years, a group of Chinese companies came to Angola with "Chinese experience" to undertake projects such as hydropower stations, drought resistance projects and water supply facilities.

In April of this year, the first and second bidding sections of the Drought resistance project undertaken by China Power Construction Municipal Group were officially completed and put into use. The project includes connecting the main channels of the inner river in the library, as well as facilities such as water pumping stations, reservoirs.

The province of Cunnene is located in the south of Angola, with 9 months of dry season. Local villagers Augusto will never forget the rare drought in 2018. The drought resistance project leads the inland water in the library to the downstream arid areas through open channels, so that the cultivated land that can only be sowed in the rainy season can also be irrigated in the dry season. Zhao Yong, general manager of Southwest African Company of China Power Construction Municipal Group, said that after the project is completed, it can meet the problem of water consumption of 235,000 people along the line and provide irrigation for 5,000 hectares of farmland. The Angola government also plans to build large farms along the channel and develop agricultural production.

Nowadays, from time to time from the water port to the canals along the line, you can see large groups of cattle and sheep. The crops thrive, and the comprehensive benefits of the project in the dry season have been fully reflected. Abdullah Shashid, chairman of the 76th UN General Assembly, praised the scene when he came to the scene in May: "The United Nations will consider promoting the project model to the world's other countries and regions that suffer from drought."

Drinking water safety has always been a major problem in Angola, and the lack of clean water to increase the risk of infectious diseases such as cholera. "Let the locals drink rest assured water" is also something that Chinese companies care about.

In June of this year, the water supply project of the largest livelihood project of Cabetta was completed and put into use. Zhu Qihui, chairman of the Angola International Corporation of the Fangzhong Railway 20th Bureau Group, said that the project can supply tap water around the clock and uninterrupted water, daily water supply capacity of 50,000 cubic meters, covering 92%of the province of Cubinda.

"In the past, I had to go far away from the well, and it was very troublesome." Adriano, who lives in the Forta Fulla area, said that there are more than 400 residents in his area, and "difficult to drink water" is a collective memory. "Today, the water pipe is received from the door. Thank you Chinese companies for allowing us to use clean and hygienic water every day."
