On September 21, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a conference on the development of work and cross -strait relations since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Chen Yuanfeng, deputy director of the Central Taiwan Office, introduced at the press conference that over the past ten years, cross -strait trade and Taiwanese businessmen have increased significantly in mainland investment. In 2011, the cross -strait trade volume was US $ 1,60.3 billion. In 2021, the cross -strait trade volume increased to US $ 328.34 billion, which turned over in ten years.

As of 2011, a total of 85,772 Taiwan businessmen invested in mainland China projects. By the end of 2021, a total of 1,24,142 projects invested in mainland China projects, an increase of 44.7%in ten years. The mainland has ranked the largest export market, the largest source of trade surplus, and the largest destination for Taiwan business islands.

"In the past ten years, the exchanges between cross -strait personnel and exchanges from all walks of life have continued to expand." Chen Yuanfeng said that in 2011, there were 7.1 million people crossing cross -strait personnel, of which 5.26 million people in Taiwan came to the mainland; in 2019, the cross -strait personnel had approximately 9 million people, of which the compatriots in Taiwan came to the mainland more than 6 million. Affected by the epidemic of new crown pneumonia in the past three years, online exchanges have become the main form of communication and interaction between compatriots on both sides of the strait.
