experiment procedure

first step:

Use sandpaper to polish the lacquer layer on the surface of the cola can to expose the aluminum layer below.

This step is more expensive. It is recommended to wear a disposable glove. If you do n’t have disposable gloves at home, you can use friends.

Step 2:

Add the toilet spirit to the cup, it can be more effective, but leave space to prevent the cola can from putting it in and overflow.

Put on the ring of the cola can with disposable chopsticks to burn Cola can.

For a while, a bubbles can be seen, which shows that the aluminum layer has begun to be corroded.

The principle used in this small experiment is mainly the corrosion of metal aluminum of acidic liquid. Metal aluminum is a more lively metal, and it is easy to generate hydrogen and aluminum salt with acidic reactions. Chemical equation is

The cola can is made of metal aluminum. There is a layer of polymer coating on the inner surface of the cola can. The main component of this layer of coating is a polymer with stable epoxy resin or other chemical properties. The outer surface of the cola can is a layer of printed ink. We first polished the surface of the cans with sandpaper on the one hand to polish this layer of ink. On the other hand, because metal aluminum in the air is very easy to form a dense alumina film on the surface to protect the internal aluminum. Therefore, sandpaper can also be used to destroy this dense aluminum aluminum film and expose the internal metal aluminum.
