Wang Yi announced that China has launched the approval of the "Guns Protocol" domestic legal procedures

On September 24, 2022, Wang Yi State Councilor and Foreign Minister announced in the general debate of the 77th NCC University's general debate and delivered a speech that China has launched relevant domestic legal procedures for the approval of the "Guns Protocol". This is an important active measure of China ’s active implementation of global security initiative and maintaining international and regional peace and stability, and reflects the determination of China’ s concept of supporting multilateralism and practicing the concept of human destiny community.

"Guns Protocol" launched negotiations within the United Nations framework since 1998. It passed in the United Nations Conference in May 2001 and took effect in July 2005. There are currently 122 parties to the contract. The main purpose of the negative book is to formulate international norms in the aspects of gun manufacturing, import and export, and its management to promote and strengthen international cooperation in combating relevant multinational organizational crimes.

China has always attached great importance to various problems caused by the flood of guns, and resolutely oppose illegal manufacturing and trafficking guns. In recent years, China has adopted a series of practical measures at all levels of legislation, justice, and law enforcement to continuously strengthen domestic gun management. At the same time, China has earnestly fulfilled international obligations and actively participated in international cooperation, and made due contributions to cracking down on illegal trade in guns.
